Your first day begins with a city tour. You’ll visit the biggest traditional market in the region, where locals gather for trading.
After that, visit the Sumba Cultural House Museum to discover the stories, traditions, and artistry that define the region’s rich heritage. This museum tour offers a glimpse into the past through captivating artifacts, cultural exhibits, and key historical moments—perfect for those curious to connect with the roots of this unique destination.
In the afternoon, enjoy the beautiful sunset at Mananga Aba Beach. Return to the city for dinner and check in at Sima Hotel. Good night!
Day 2
After breakfast, continue your trip in Southwest Sumba by visiting the Nggaro Tribe (Ratenggaro Village) in the Kodi clan. Here, you’ll see the iconic high-roofed houses (the tallest traditional houses in all of Sumba), built entirely by hand. Located near the beach, the village offers stunning views of megalithic structures, traditions, and natural beauty.
Next, visit Waikuri Lagoon, a crystal-clear blue lagoon perfect for swimming and relaxing. You can also walk around the lagoon to enjoy views of the Indian Ocean, making it a picturesque spot for trip documentation. Lunch will be provided here (lunch box), as there are no restaurants in this area.
In the evening, enjoy a sunset at Mandorak Beach, flanked by two large rocks with crystal-clear waters. Return to the city for dinner at a local restaurant, then back to Sima Hotel. Good night!
Day 3
After breakfast, embark on an adventure trekking to Waikacura Waterfall, located in the middle of a vast rice field. Swim in the waterfall’s pool, surrounded by the largest rice field in the region. This unique spot, with a large tree in the middle of the waterfall, has a magical ambiance.
Next, visit Prai Ijing Village in West Sumba, where traditional animist beliefs remain strong. Built on a hill, the village offers breathtaking views of the city and surrounding rice fields.
After lunch at a local restaurant, head to East Sumba. Your final stop for the day is Wairinding Hills, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. Horses are available to rent for photos. End the day with dinner in Waingapu and check in at Kambaniru Hotel. Good night!
Day 4
After breakfast, trek to Waimarang Waterfall, a hidden gem with a natural blue swimming pool. Enjoy photography, jumping into the water, and swimming to relax after the trek. Lunch will be provided (lunch box).
In the afternoon, visit the King’s Village, where you can explore megalithic tombs and learn about ancient traditions, including rituals that involved human sacrifices during royal funerals (practiced until 1970).
End your day at Walakiri Beach, famous for its "dancing trees," a favorite among photographers. Return to the city for dinner, then back to the hotel. Good night!
Day 5
After breakfast, explore the beauty of East Sumba’s waterfalls and savannas, where horses and cows roam freely. Stop at Puru Kambera Savannah on the way to Tanggedu Waterfall.
Trek to Tanggedu Waterfall (20 minutes on flat terrain and 15 minutes on stairs) to enjoy stunning views. Afterward, relax at Puru Kambera Beach, where lunch will be provided (lunch box).
Finish the day at Persaudaraan Hills, a peaceful spot with views of the city and farmland. Return to the city for dinner, then back to the hotel. Good night!
Day 6
After breakfast, visit Prailiu Village to witness the traditional textile-making process using natural dyes. Sumba’s textiles are among the finest in Indonesia, with motifs carrying deep cultural significance
Next, visit Hiliwuku Hills, a vast and tranquil area perfect for relaxation. Lunch will be provided here (lunch box).
In the afternoon, head to Tenau Hills, smaller than Hiliwuku but offering unique views of a river and the city. It’s a perfect spot for sunset photography. Return to the city for dinner, then back to the hotel. Good night!
Note: This is an ideal day to shop for souvenirs to take home.
